PostSubject: Sound Systems   Wed Oct 07, 2009 2:12 am

Hello, just checkin' in here to see if anyone would like to talk about anything...Random topic of the day is sound systems: speakers, amps, receivers, music and whatnot.

I'll have to admit that im a sucker for good sounding arrangements, and pursue such a setup myself. I have recently started to build my desired sound system on a budget (for new equipment), and, so far, its working out quite well. In my set up I have:

An Onkyo HT S6100 Home Theater Package:
-Seven Speakers included
-One 10" 270w sub
-130w per channel
-Ipod dock

I chose the Onkyo pre packed system because it was a bargain for a decent set up, but since then I have added in some better speakers and a second power amp.

-Two Allison CD9 Tower speakers
-Has 10"sub, 3.5" mid, and 1.5" voice coil
-160w each
-Older Speakers but amazing sound
-Toshiba SY-665 270w Amp
-Pretty old-school but works for what I need

I have my PC connected via HDMI to get proper 7.1 sound, and my Xbox 360 over Optical...Call of duty four has amazing sound! My Ipod Dock has a proprietary connection so I can control it with the remote. I also have my Gamecube set up but do not really use it for I could walk across the house and play on a bigger screen on the Wii.

Currently I have this set up in my bedroom, but plan to move elsewhere because the room is far too small to accommodate the speaker updrades I wish to install.

On to music!

Ummm....I can't really define this with a genre, but a generic answer...I listen to everything! Give me something good to listen to and I'll respond with a similar artist/style

Thats reasonable...I basically had that same type of setup for a while, then got pissed off that the computer speakers wouldn't pick up the mids and lows of classic rock

I also use it for movies and games so the full range of sound give the experience that extra kick. I have to say that the 360 has an amazing sound output; even low bit-rate tracks sound great.
