It's coming! The Nintendo DSi!

Okay everyone, the nintendo DSi is a redesign on the DS lite.

The differences are:

No GBA port.
Not 1, but 2 camera's (On either side of the hinge)
SD port
Flash memory
Built-in web browser

There are more, but I'm busy.

I have seen that Nintendo is releasing this new ds. I hear it has a built in web browser. Why wouldn't they go for microsd?

But all the specs have not been released, but it seems you can take photos and download them to the Wii.

I'm going to post the offical Wikipedia page. Remember, it's Wiki, so it may not be perfect:

"Nintendo has announced that it will be about 12% thinner than the DS Lite. The new handheld will contain two cameras (a 0.3 megapixel [300,000 pixels, 640 x 480 resolution] camera on the internal hinge pointed towards the user and a camera on the outside of the shell), larger screens (3.25 inches as opposed to the previous 3 inches), and improved speakers. The power switch was replaced with a power button, as the original DS had, now located next to the bottom left side of the touch screen. A new SD card slot will be utilized for external storage of pictures and downloaded software and to play AAC audio. The front slot for Game Boy Advance (GBA) cartridges will be removed, thus removing the unit's backward compatibility and its compatibility with accessories that require the GBA slot. The DSi will have its own internal flash memory and will ship with a built-in web browser. Photos can be synced to the Wii's Photo Channel. Called the Nintendo DSi, it eschews the GBA slot (boo!) in favour of a slight downsizing (it's a little thinner) and a range of improvements. The handheld's screens have been enlarged, and will now be 17% bigger (at 3.25 inches) than those found on the DS Lite. As for the rumoured additions, both have proven to be correct, with "audio enhancements" made to the handheld, while it will also now include a .3 megapixel (640x480) camera. And that's just the start of it.

The DSi also features an SD memory card slot, making it possible to take pictures with the DSi and then view them on the Nintendo Wii. The DSi features a built-in browser, and it's possible to download games and keep them on the DSi.
For digital delivery purchases, there is a DSi Shop, from which users can download DSiWare from. Pricing categories for the DSiWare are: Free, 200 points, 500 points and "Premium" or 800 points. Customers will get 1000 free points to spend at the DSi Shop that are good until March 2010.

The DSi will be released in Japan on November 1. It will retail for ￥18,900 (USD$180), and will be available in two colours, white and black. It will be released in other markets sometime "next year"." -Kotaku.com

You do know that most mcdonalds do have wifi? It is actually provided by nintendo!

Yea, but I live in a little town that's only Mcdonald's is 15 minles away. And it doesn't have Wi-fi.

The next one that does is 45 miles.

So I go to the coffee shop who has 2 iMac's and wi-fi.

Yea, I do my own HTML. And yes coffee, they don't have donuts. But they do have really good cookies.

I mean, they really didn't need to bring this out.
Now, I'm a bigger nintendo fan then most, but even I see this as a money-grabbing exercise and nothing else.

I want to get one if it works with flashcarts...there has to be some person out there ready to make some crazy software for it. plus the memory slot (which i hope it sdhc) is a pretty cool bonus over all the other functions. i hope that there is movie function out of the box.

Well, as it plays DS games, the flash cart that you have now will work on it, seeing as it doesn't depend on what type of DS you play it on.
And yeah, if it is SDHC that would be pretty cool.

And really, if you want movies then you just need to get moonshell for your flash cart.

One of the downsides is the whole 'No GBA compatability', which means that all slot two devices are made useless if you have a DSi.

Well it will not work necessarily, Nintendo will probably implement a block for unsanctioned hard ware as they do for software on the wii.

Eh, there will be a patch out to override it in a week, a month tops.
You should never underestimate the pirating community.

It might be a hardware change that physically prevents it from working...but that is unlikely.

Doesn't matter if it is a hardware change,
Some smart person will be able to open it up and show people how to disable it.

Yeah but if the fix is a hardware mod, most people, including me, will not want to take apart their shiny new toy apart.

actually there will have to be a change in the hard ware of the flash carts. They will have to be made into the boot style of card that the gba slot uses. It has been reported that the system will crash if there is a secondary game boot that is used by the flashcarts today.
