Sonic and the Secret Rings

Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Nintendo Wii is in my opinion the greatest 3-D Sonic games ever. In this review I will go in depth about what I thought of the Story and the Party modes of this game.
Graphics
The visuals of this game were stunning. It gave Sonic a realer look then any before it. Although a bi-pedal blue hedgehog wearing red and white shoes certainly will never look real (and never should), this game looked wonderful. I never saw anything wrong with the graphics; there were no flaws, nothing choppy here and there, they were great. Sega really did do well on this game. I give graphics a 10/10.

Sound
The voice acting was great in this game. But the music wasn’t as good. A few songs were good, but most of them were Arabian sounding. But I don’t consider that a flaw in any way. This game takes place in the book “Arabian Nights” and is set beck in the day. So the music should sound Arabian. But it didn’t. Some songs a a little of a Arabic sound to them, but it was mostly bad rock music. A sometimes the music is semi-important to the game; this is one of those cases. That is why sound is getting a 6/10.
6/10
Control
The control is a good way to play a Sonic game. Steer Sonic by tilting the Wii Remote, attack by thrusting it forward. But the backing up (which can come into play quite a bit) was choppy. You had to do it just right, or it would go forward at times leading into a cliff or an enemy. Another problem I had was the Party Modes controls. Quite a few of them were goof, but there are always bad apples on the tree. One game in which you have to use the controller like a canoe ore while rowing upstream to avoid falling down a waterfall was very bad; the controls just didn’t work quite right. In my opinion, control gets a 7/10

Gameplay
The gameplay was great. As before in 3-D Sonic titles, you were free-roaming. In Secret Rings Sega combined the 3-D effects of older 3-D and the set course of the older 2-D Sonic titles. Another good thing about this one, Sonic was the only playable character. In later games you were able to use other characters like Shadow, Tails, Knuckles, etc. And thus they would be played more then the star of the game, Sonic. This means they would get much stronger, and that’s not right. With Sonic being the only playable character in this one, you are able to add abilities to him and only him in the way of four different rings.
The enemy and boss battles are amazing. And with the first big battle, you won’t want to put it down until it’s beaten. I give gameplay a 9/10.
